Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to support daily operations within our manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing production employees in the Mandrel Finishing, Mandrel Forming, and Vulcanizing departments to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient production that exceeds customer expectations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can drive performance, maintain quality standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all operators follow standard operating procedures within the Mandrel Finishing and Vulcanizing areas
  • Lead, train, coach, and motivate team members to achieve production goals and operational excellence
  • Conduct timely quarterly and annual performance reviews for team members
  • Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer delivery timelines
  • Participate in daily leadership meetings and provide department updates
  • Ensure production paperwork and reporting are completed accurately and on time
  • Monitor, measure, and report production performance metrics
  • Oversee quality assurance and inspection of raw materials and finished goods
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repair and maintenance activities
  • Establish and communicate expectations regarding production, quality, and scrap reduction
  • Maintain a safe working environment and enforce all safety procedures
  • Investigate quality concerns and collaborate with the quality department on resolutions
  • Assist with disciplinary actions and employee relations matters as needed
  • Support inventory processes and department organization
  • Train new employees on department procedures and safety standards
  • Implement and maintain company policies and operational standards
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to drive continuous improvement and operational growth
  • Perform additional responsibilities within the Mandrel Finishing department as required by management
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 35 years of related manufacturing experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Rubber manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example
  • Ability to take ownership and accountability for team performance and results
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and production specifications
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to accurately read and measure using calipers and tape measures
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Must follow all safety procedures and obtain forklift certification within the first 90 days
