Flatbed Tow Truck Operator (Class C)
  • Location: San Francisco, CA
  • Pay: $36.50/hour
  • Job Type: Full-Time | Contract
  • Shift: Monday-Friday | 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM
Join a Professional Vehicle Recovery Team
We're looking for an experienced Flatbed Tow Truck Operator to safely recover, transport, and relocate vehicles throughout the San Francisco area.
This position is ideal for someone with professional flatbed towing experience who takes pride in safety, vehicle handling, and delivering dependable service. You'll work with a modern fleet while supporting daily transportation and recovery operations.
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a flatbed tow truck to recover and transport vehicles
  • Perform vehicle loading, unloading, and securement using proper recovery techniques
  • Transport vehicles safely between operational locations
  • Complete pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections
  • Maintain DOT compliance, including Hours of Service (HOS) documentation
  • Communicate with dispatch and operations regarding recovery status and transportation updates
  • Perform roadside recovery operations while maintaining a strong safety focus
Conduct basic equipment servicing, including:
  • Fueling
  • Fluid checks
  • Tire pressure inspections
  • Reporting maintenance concerns
  • Maintain accurate inspection and transportation logs
  • Keep assigned vehicles clean and operationally ready
  • Support team operations as needed
Qualifications
  • Valid Class C Driver's License required
  • CDL is preferred but not required
  • Medical Examiner Certificate (MEC) required
  • Clean driving record with no major violations
  • Minimum 4 years of professional flatbed towing or vehicle recovery experience
  • Experience operating rollback or flatbed tow trucks
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle recovery and securement procedures
  • Ability to work safely around traffic and roadside hazards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Willingness to work overnight shifts and occasional overtime when needed
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening
