Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Oversee crew and field operations on heavy civil construction projects. Includes managing entire projects or large scopes. timelines while ensuring safety, compliance with standards, and quality
  • The primary on-site leader, directing all daily activities, ensuring a smooth workflow
  • Directs labor, subcontractors, equipment, and material deliveries to align with project phases and schedules
  • Implements and enforces safety protocols (OSHA) and quality standards, conducting briefings and site walks to maintain compliance
  • Reads blueprints, interprets technical documents, and manages site grading, utility installations, and overall construction methods on large complex civil projects
  • Acts as the key liaison between field crews, field engineers, and project managers, providing progress updates and addressing concerns

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
**Please note--Requirements are essential, but preferences have flexibility. **
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in the self-perform construction industry
  • Underground wet and dry utilities experience. You will be supervising installation of storm and sewer with $25 million - $50 million scope of work over three years
  • Flexibility to work night shift as required. Full nighttime position would be ideal
  • Comprehensive understanding of various construction disciplines, including union regulations, safety protocols, and scheduling
  • Proven ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance effectively, fostering a culture of excellence
  • A robust work ethic, exhibiting commitment to completing tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Feels confident to make real-time decisions to resolve issues and challenges that arise from changing site conditions or unexpected hurdles
  • Valid Driver's License required

Preferences:
  • 5+ years in a Superintendent or field supervision role.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Preference for those who enjoy a collaborative, team-driven work style.
  • Experience with a wide variety of software and platforms are not required but may help your candidacy which may include the following: Cloud-based collaborative software, Teams, Smartsheet, HeavyJob, HeavyBid, P6, Primavera Cloud, ProCore, etc..
