Job description

We're currently hiring for Locator Technicians in the Grand Forks, ND area!

Experienced Locators preferred, but also considering inexperienced candidates. Starting wage ranging from $20-$26/hour depending on experience.

All of our field technicians are provided with:

  • Safety gear including company boot (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.
  • Military-grade computer device
  • The company issued truck
  • Company fuel card (yes, we pay your gas!)
  • Comprehensive Benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, 401K, Life insurance and short term Disability (FULL paid health insurance for singles!)

Olameter is one of the largest meter servicing companies in North America with over 1,500 employees providing services in 30 states and provinces to over 300 utilities.

Responsibilities:

Line locators will work under the direction of their company supervisor, performing work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to locate and protect the utility from being damaged. Some of these utilities include gas, electric, water, cable, sewer and more.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Upon employment, subject to random drug testing in compliance with DOT guidelines

Working Conditions and Hours:

  • Hours Mon-Fri 7am - 5pm
  • Outdoor work environment
  • Driving company vehicle to and from work sites
  • Normal working hours are daylight hours; limited work hours on weekends except for periodic on-call duty and mass workloads

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests
  • Develop a general knowledge of state and local damage prevention regulations
  • Learn and apply safety measure relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related matters
