Jefferson County Stone - Rogers Group Inc - Louisville, KY

Full-Time

Day Shift: 5 a.m. - 1 p.m. 

Wages starting at $23.00/hr. Overall pay will be determined based on candidate's experience and skill set. Candidates with experience operating equipment, specifically in an underground mine environment are preferred.

Jefferson County Stone is an underground limestone mine/quarry seeking candidates to fill our need for an Underground Beltline Utility in Louisville, KY. This role supports daily underground mining operations by performing general labor tasks with an emphasis on conveyor belt systems, cleanup, maintenance support, and material handling. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient haulage and belt line operations while supporting production and maintenance crews as needed.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform routine cleanup along belt lines, including removal of spillage and debris
  • Assist with belt startup, shutdown, inspections, and daytoday operation
  • Help with belt repairs, including changing rollers/idlers, skirts, scrapers, and guards
  • Assist with belt extensions, moves, and structure installations
  • Monitor belts for misalignment, damage, or abnormal conditions and report issues immediately
  • Perform general labor tasks such as shoveling, scaling loose material, and housekeeping
  • Assist maintenance crews with mechanical, electrical, or structural tasks as directed
  • Install and remove ventilation controls (brattice, curtains, stoppings)
  • Handle materials, tools, supplies, and parts throughout the mine
  • Wash equipment, clean work areas, and maintain proper housekeeping standards

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to work underground in confined, dusty, wet, hot, or lowlight environments
  • Physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working around conveyor systems and mobile equipment
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to perform repetitive or physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and work as part of a team
  • Willing to work in an underground mining environment.
  • Able to operate underground mining equipment with precision and excellence in a confined space.
  • Must be able to work underground and outside in all types of weather and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, climb, and walk for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Ability to be coached and to pick up on new tasks quickly.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
  • Self-motivated - able to work without requiring close supervision.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug-screening.
