Swick designs and builds its own mobile underground diamond drill rigs in-house. Our rigs are developed specifically to improve safety, mobility, productivity and performance underground, giving our crews access to equipment built for the work they do every day.

About the Role

As a Swick Underground Diamond Driller Helper you are required to be physically fit, hardworking and reliable. You will play a key role in safely delivering high-quality drilling services for our clients across North America. You will support drilling operations by assisting skilled drillers in the setup, operation, and maintenance of underground drilling equipment. The role involves preparing the drilling site, handling tools and materials, and monitoring equipment performance to prevent downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role involves manual labour in underground mining environments, including lifting, carrying drill rods, handling equipment and working in confined spaces.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of drilling equipment at underground sites.
  • Support drillers by handling tools, supplies, and materials required for drilling operations.
  • Monitor drilling equipment during operation to identify and report any malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and respond to operational needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of drilling equipment under supervision.

What We’re Looking For

  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work in remote underground mining environments on a 20/10 rotation.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
  • MSHA certification preferred or ability to obtain required site certifications.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, reliability and high-quality work.
