Job description

Job Title: Inspector III, Petroleum

Salary: $68,328 - $79,040 per year

Job Location: 725 Oakridge Drive, Romeoville, IL  60446

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday

Duties: Perform the necessary volume measurements, temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation and reporting which ensures that the customer receives an independent, accurate and complete assessment of quantity and quality of material. Able to perform by specified methodology the below duties in addition to completing the associated paperwork: Volume measurement, temperature measurement and sampling of commodity materials contained or conveyed in lines, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks and barges; Visual inspections on lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks and barges; custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks and barges; routine equipment calibration, verification and function checks; Verify and communicate the results obtained and to make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information; Provide on the job training to less experienced Inspectors; Provide on the job assistance and receive training from more experienced Inspectors. Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport and company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned. Monitor the availability of the supplies needed for the above processes, and to make any needs for such supplies known to the Dispatcher or Coordinator. Organize and coordinate jobs so that services are rendered, and reports and samples are submitted in a timely manner. This position requires 25% domestic travel.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Main Education and Experience:  Bachelor degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or closely related field and two (2) years of experience as Inspector or related role where required experience gained. 

Alternate Education and Experience: In lieu of a Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in stated fields and two (2) years of stated experience, Employer will accept no degree and four (4) years of experience.

Special Skills:  Also requires two (2) years of experience in the following:

  • IFIA (International Federation of Inspection Agencies) certified. 

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) 

  • Ability to interpret and apply API MPMS Chapters 3,7,8, 11, 12 and 17, including temperature/volume correction factors, shore tank measurements, and custody transfer calculations.

  • Petroleum and chemical inspection procedures.

  • Training in Field Audit Assessments.

  • Dispatching and coordinating 

  • Company processing, operating systems and data systemization, such as Phoenix, C-Bis, Sample Manager, ICAM, etc.

  • TIC certification.
