Description
The Monell Chemical Senses Center is a world-renowned non-profit research institute, and a global leader dedicated to advancing knowledge about the senses of taste, smell, and related senses and translating its discoveries into real-world advances in policy, practice, and behavior. Monell is located in the heart of the vibrant educational and life sciences hub of Philadelphia.
We are looking for a full-time Research Technician to join our multidisciplinary team investigating the mechanisms underlying metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders, including diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and ALS. Our research utilizes rodent models and human patient-derived stem cell systems to advance understanding and treatment of these conditions.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with experience in any of the following areas will be given preference:
  • Mouse handling for behavioral studies
  • Stereotactic surgeries in rodents
  • Analysis of large datasets, including application of machine learning methods
  • Mammalian tissue culture, including stem cell and organoid systems
  • Electrophysiology techniques
  • Molecular biology methods: single-cell sequencing, RNA isolation, Western blotting, CRISPR screens, molecular cloning
  • Protein biochemistry
  • Work with transgenic mouse models
