Job description

IIA is seeking experienced Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) to join our lab in St. Louis, MO


This role includes a sign-on bonus of $500.00 paid in the first paycheck

 

Position Summary

The CWI will perform hands-on inspections at customer sites and / or at the lab in St. Louis. Most of the projects supported are local to the St. Louis area with only a few being out of town. 

The applicable method will be performed; the integrity of the item inspected will be assessed with respect to codes, standards and specifications; and the results reported accordingly. Additionally, the CWI will support other associated tasks such as job preparation, coordination, mobilization / demobilization, and reporting as directed by their supervisor.


This is a full-time position that will support a minimum of 40 hours per week. If welding inspection work is not available, the CWI will support other areas of the lab to ensure 40 hours of work per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hands on inspection work interfacing with the customer and directing / training Technician Assistants / Apprentices based on the specific work scope.  
  • Ensure work and used materials are compliant with manufacturer and customer specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality procedures, laws, regulations, and customer requirements.  
  • Own personal and overall job site safety, stopping the job if required due to unsafe conditions or lack of compliance with quality requirements. 
  • Perform day to day and routine safety observations and inspections.
  • Perform pre-job preparations of equipment, job walkdowns, procedural reviews, etc. as required by the specific work scope.
  • Perform post-job equipment, job walkdowns, procedural reviews, etc. as required by the specific work scope for the completed work and future work scheduled / planned.
  • Complete applicable job reports and other paperwork as required / instructed on or before the required date as communicated by the applicable IIA representative.

Qualifications

  • Certified Welding Inspector (AWS certified)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license.
  • Take and pass all pre-employment screening, including background and initial and future random drug screening.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Experience & Skills

  • Provide verifiable evidence of CWI certification.
  • Meet or exceed quality program requirements for work experience on the applicable method and total work experience for the NDT method and level.
  • Understand mechanical concepts and spatial relationships.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and prepare technical specifications and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal skills for daily interaction with customers and fellow employees.
  • Ability to use basic software and Outlook to generate service reports and communicate within the company, including skills to navigate web-based service literature and programs.
  • Certifications in NDT methods such as UT, RT, MT, PT, and VT preferred.
