Job description

Laborer 2 – Underground Construction
Location: Reno, NV
Department: Field
Type: Full-Time


About the Role
Laborer 2 is a more experienced underground construction role supporting utility and civil work. This position is for individuals who understand jobsite flow, can work with minimal supervision, and take responsibility for safety, quality, and productivity.


Laborer 2 team members are expected to anticipate jobsite needs, support operators and foremen, and help guide less experienced crew members.


What You’ll Do
• Perform underground utility and trenching work with limited supervision
• Support operators and foremen during excavation and installation activities
• Act as a spotter during excavation around live or existing utilities, including utility identification and protection
• Assist with trenching, backfill, compaction, and site restoration
• Stage tools, materials, and equipment for daily operations
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites
• Follow and help enforce PPE and safety procedures
• Support job production goals by staying engaged and proactive

Requirements Required:
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physical labor
• OSHA 10 
• Demonstrated understanding of jobsite safety and procedures
• Ability to follow plans and direction with minimal supervision


Preferred (or willing to obtain):
• OSHA 30

• Demonstrated experience in underground utility or heavy civil construction
• Ability to read construction plans and perform basic construction math, including quantities and measurements
• Experience supporting excavation activities around live or existing utilities by locating, identifying, and verifying utilities, establishing traffic control when required, assisting with trenching and excavation, and ensuring utilities are properly protected throughout the work
• Bilingual preferred; must be able to read, write, and speak English and be comfortable using basic computer and mobile technology
