Description
Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Tow Motor Operator ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Tow Motor Operator will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum's Customer 1st Philosophy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
The general purpose of the Tow Motor Operator is to keep material and scrap moving to and from the fabrication area so production can be continuous. The Tow Motor Operator checks in delivery trucks, unloads the material, and keeps it organized in the yard inventory. They manage scrap trailers and work on a schedule to get pickups for various material scrap.
  • Coordinates and delivers material from stock locations to supply fabrication machining and bending needs.
  • Insures all work centers have the needed Materials/Supplies to ensure production is made on time and complete.
  • Assisting the Scheduler that we are producing product to the schedule, insuring a constant flow through Fabrication meeting customer demands.
  • Must move or transport materials from one department to another, manually or using material handling equipment (Forklift, hub-tech and crane certified).
  • Assist team lead (when necessary) with organization, quality verification, and quantity moves of finished goods prior to going out of fabrication.
  • Utilize technology to review job requirements, report production, and to produce labels or reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized work place.
  • Performs any and all other duties assigned by management

  • Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments

Requirements
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Driver's license is required.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk; frequently use hands to handle, finger and feel; regularly reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; frequently talk and/or hear.
The employee will frequently lift up 25 pounds; regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally the employee will be required to lift up 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, and vibrations. The employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and working near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally the employee will work in high, precarious places and extreme heart (non-weather).
The noise level in typically loud in this work environment. Hearing protection is required.
Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
