Job description

Position Summary:
Laser Cutting Machine Operator / Setup Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and programming of and laser cutting machines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Machine Operation & Setup
• Set up and operate laser cutting machines (fiber and/or CO2) to produce high-precision components.
• Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
• Perform routine maintenance and ensure machines are operating safely and efficiently.
• Programming
• Develop and optimize laser cutting manual programs using G codes and/or CAD/CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Adjust cutting parameters based on material type and thickness to ensure quality and minimize waste.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that tooling meets safety and performance standards.
• Support initiatives to improve workflow and reduce manual labor.
• Quality Assurance
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Ensure all components meet dimensional and surface finish specifications.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of machine settings, programs, and maintenance activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on process enhancements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or mechatronics preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience operating and programming laser cutting machines.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances, and materials.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
• Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
