Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Test Engineer/Principal Test Engineer to join the EGI-M Airborne Navigation System Integration & Test (I&T) team in Woodland Hills, CA. The role involves conducting comprehensive verification activities throughout the program life cycle, including requirements analysis, test procedure development, test execution, and formal reporting. This position will be 100% on-site.
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop test requirements and detailed integration test plans, procedures, readiness reviews (TRRs), test data, and reports.
  • Execute qualification testing in accordance with established requirements, plans, and procedures.
  • Conduct tests while managing and prioritizing problem resolution.
  • Compile data to determine necessary changes in test equipment, procedures, or to establish new test requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (including hardware, software, and systems engineers) in both laboratory and field environments.
  • Conduct formal technical reviews, such as Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Test Equipment Management that includes the design, development, or integration of specialized test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Data Analysis of test data, identify anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and generate comprehensive test reports.
  • Technical and operational problem solving to troubleshoot complex, multi-domain system failures (hardware/software/mechanical) and conduct root cause analyses.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact during test events, managing customer expectations and reporting results.

Basic Qualifications for Test Engineer:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 2 years of related test experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university.
  • Experience authoring test procedures, managing test facility interfaces, and ensuring data integrity and cataloging.
  • Experience with test execution, diagnostics, and formal requirement decomposition with traceability and verification.
  • Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
  • Proficient in at least one of the following programming environments: MATLAB, C, C++, C#, and/or Python.
  • Active US Government Secret Level security clearance.
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA

Basic Qualifications for Principal Test Engineer:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of related test experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 3 years of related test experience.
  • Experience authoring test procedures, managing test facility interfaces, and ensuring data integrity and cataloging.
  • Experience with test execution, diagnostics, and formal requirement decomposition with traceability and verification.
  • Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
  • Proficient in at least one of the following programming environments: MATLAB, C, C++, C#, and/or Python.

  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience integrating embedded GPS Inertial Navigation Systems.
  • Expert experience with GNSS/INS/EGI systems and precision navigation simulation.
  • Experience creating automated test scripts that integrate with hardware interfaces.
  • Experience working with operational hazards such as overhead lifting, Thermal Chambers, and Vibration Test systems
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple, shifting priorities while maintaining safety standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership of System Test efforts in a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience with COMSEC material management.
  • Experience engaging external customers through meetings, presentations, and technical negotiations.

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
