Job description

Telemetry Systems Field Engineer

Position Summary

Our client, a company focused on the design, engineering, sales, and support of telemetry data systems and mission-critical communications solutions, is seeking a Telemetry Systems Field Engineer to provide technical support and training for all telemetry products, systems, and associated components. This individual will travel to client sites across all sales regions, providing engineering support to current and newly identified clients in conjunction with the Telemetry Sales Lead(s) and Sales Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Telemetry Sales Lead(s) in building relationships sufficient to penetrate and manage the customer base.
  • Organize and lead training and product support engagements in the assigned market space.
  • Train and advise clients in the architecture, installation, utilization, and operation of telemetry ground station equipment and auxiliary telemetry products.
  • Provide contextual support to clients regarding IT systems that utilize the company's telemetry data systems products.
  • Diagnose problems in the field with telemetry product line hardware and software.
  • Coordinate maintenance and upkeep of demonstration/training units with the development team.
  • Submit weekly forecasting, planning, tracking, and reporting to the Sales Manager.
  • Analyze records of present and past sales, trends, costs, and revenue for use in future product support planning.
  • Assist the Sales Lead and Sales Manager in developing key account strategy, product support, and warranty sales strategies.
  • Participate in strategic sales and client account development planning, working toward team and corporate revenue goals.
  • Aggregate customer feedback on market trends and participate in maintaining a strategic product line roadmap.
  • Participate in relevant company and industry events.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent electronics training in a military or civilian technical school.
  • Minimum of four years of hands-on technical field support experience relevant to telemetry data systems.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities independently and work remotely, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • High energy level with strong business awareness, competitive drive, and excellent people skills.
  • Excellent listening skills along with solid verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create concise reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Ability to demonstrate and present systems and software to clients.
  • Proficient with, and able to instruct on, the installation, operation, and employment of telemetry data systems products.
  • Knowledge of relevant telemetry standards and concepts.
  • Excellent math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours and move at least 60 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics CRM software or a related enterprise CRM tool.
  • Proficiency with underlying mechanical and electrical principles, including installation and wiring techniques.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent electronics training in a military or civilian technical school.

Location

  • Hollywood, Maryland. Ability to work from the company's headquarters office is required.

Travel/Deployment Requirements

  • Substantial travel is to be expected.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $100,000 - $130,000 annually
