Description
This position is responsible for providing comprehensive telecommunications, Audio/Video (A/V), cellular systems, and networking support for in-house County assets. The role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and facility planning, ensuring a high degree of responsive service to County facilities and personnel.
SALARY RANGE: $50,440 - $66,060 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • System Maintenance & Support: Provide responsive service to County facilities and personnel, assisting with in-house and Cloud-based system maintenance. Perform preventative maintenance on telecommunications assets to ensure consistent system functionality with available technology and user requirements.
  • Audio/Video Systems: Install, upgrade, and maintain A/V systems.
  • Telecommunications & Cellular Devices: Install and maintain all desk phones, including associated applications. Provide comprehensive support for all County cellular devices, such as smartphones and cellular routers (e.g., Cradlepoints).
  • End-User Support & Training: Deliver end-user training and ongoing support for all telecommunication solutions and devices.
  • Work Order Management: Prioritize workload and efficiently manage system work orders.
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in a 24/7 call rotation to service client needs after hours or on weekends.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma (or GED) supplemented with four (4) or more years of demonstrable experience in VoIP telecommunications, Audio/Video, and Computer networking. An Associate's Degree is preferred.
  • License: Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a South Carolina license upon acceptance of the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Experience & Skills:
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency with Enterprise phone systems, including Cloud-based PBX solutions like GoTo Connect and Mitel/ShoreTel VoIP.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of cellular phones and devices, including smartphones and cellular routers (e.g., Cradlepoints).
    • Understanding of cellular frequency and carrier bands.
    • Enterprise networking experience is desired.
    • Working experience and knowledge of AT&T, Segra, and other ISP/local carriers.
    • Computer literacy in telecommunications and network assets is essential.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of cabling infrastructure, including terminating, testing, and troubleshooting CAT5E/6 and/or Fiber.
    • Experience with Audio/Video equipment like Qsys, Crestron, Barco, and other A/V controls.
    • Familiarity with National Electric Codes and telecommunications standards.
  • Documentation & Planning: Must be capable of reading and comprehending facility drawings/prints, diagrams, and communication schematics. Ability to apply appropriate communications software and equipment to achieve user satisfaction.
  • Physical Requirements: Must have the physical ability to pull cabling and access confined spaces (within applicable OSHA safety standards).
