Receptionist

In anticipation of having open positions for the school year 2026-2027, we are accepting applications for a Receptionist who is passionate about supporting students and staff in a bilingual environment. Our staff exhibit enthusiasm, a caring attitude, and a love of learning. Come join us!

LAMB offers a unique model that provides bilingual Montessori public education to diverse, urban families in the nation’s capital. Serving children in PK3 through 5th grade, LAMB is a community that is committed to children and promotes peace and equality for all. 

Job Overview

The Receptionist is the gatekeeper of LAMB, providing a warm, welcoming, and inviting atmosphere for students, staff, parents, and visitors. The receptionist also completes administrative tasks and supports the administration. This is a 9:45 am to 6:00 pm position.

Essential Duties 

  • Provide excellent customer service to parents, staff, students, and visitors in both English and Spanish via in-person contact, telephone, and email in a fast-paced front desk setting
  • Welcome visitors, manage the visitor sign-in log, and provide directions to parents, volunteers, and guests
  • As part of the school’s safety team, be aware at all times of all events, drills, and visitors in the building
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks which may include scheduling and maintaining records of school activities, check-in/check-out of supplies and materials, photocopying, typing, and data input, among others
  • Collect funds (lunch, field trips, etc.) from parents
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail and help prepare outgoing student communications
  • Conduct the intake and follow-up for late arrivals and early dismissals
  • Dismiss BASE students via PIKMYKID
  • Support student health rooms and address emergency and non-emergency situations as they arise
  • Process and distribute Kids Ride Free SmarTrip cards to students and families
  • Coordinate with aftercare providers regarding pickup arrangements, confirmations, emergencies, and onboarding requirements
  • Support afternoon dismissal operations by assisting with traffic flow and student departure procedures
  • Serve as Administrator of Medicine (AOM) support during field trips and nurse coverage as needed
  • Assist with catering logistics and event preparation for school activities
  • Support fifth-grade student waiver collection and sign-out procedures for building departures
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications 
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year experience performing the duties and responsibilities associated with this position
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English required
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills (Google Workspace)
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and work flexibly and collaboratively
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to parent, staff, and student needs and information
  • Experience working in a school setting preferred

Compensation
