Job description

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Structured Cabling Technician to join a leading Company located in the Raleigh, NC  surrounding area.

We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling Technician responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling systems. This role supports projects involving network infrastructure, electronic security systems, access control, surveillance, intrusion detection, and healthcare technology solutions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in working with building codes and industry installation standards.
Responsibilities:
Install, route, and secure structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, coax, fiber optic, etc.) in commercial and healthcare facilities.
Terminate and test cables using industry-standard tools and certification equipment.
Read, interpret, and update blueprints, engineered drawings, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and device layouts.
Install low-voltage devices including access control hardware, security cameras, card readers, intrusion detection components, telecommunications panels, racks, patch panels, and cable management systems.
Ensure installations meet NEC, BICSI, local city and state building codes, and customer specifications.
Perform cable labeling, documentation, and system updates to support accurate recordkeeping.
Troubleshoot cabling issues and assist with diagnosing connectivity, continuity, and signal problems.
Work closely with project managers, lead technicians, and clients to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment on job sites.
Operate lifts, ladders, and hand tools in compliance with safety guidelines and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

1-3+ years of structured cabling, low-voltage installation, or related field experience preferred.
Knowledge of cable routing, termination, and testing best practices.
Familiarity with access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, or network infrastructure installation.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technology system drawings.
Experience with punch-down tools, fiber termination, cable certification equipment, and test meters.
Understanding of BICSI standards (certification is a plus).
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work from ladders/lifts, and navigate above-ceiling spaces.
Strong attention to detail, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required):
BICSI Installer Level 1 or 2
OSHA 10/30
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must pass background check and drug screening.
Must have valid driver's license.
