Job Title:         Lead Electrical Engineer

Experience:     5+ years

Location:          Baton Rouge, LA

Schedule:        Full-time

Salary:             $110,000.00 and up, depending on qualifications

Classification:   Exempt

Travel:              10% required

Job Description

The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of low, medium, and high voltage power distribution systems for commercial and industrial. and utility facilities under the direct supervision of Enginuity Professional Engineers. This includes project management, budget management, proposal development, code requirements, field data collection, checking designer/drafting drawing packages, specification of equipment, development of construction scopes, customer interface, and team management.

Preferred Experience

Lead Engineers at Enginuity Global utilize technical expertise in power system studies, substation design, power controls, substation integration, arc flash mitigation, power quality analysis, protection systems, programming, general consulting, and onsite support/client management.

Preferred experience in some or most of the following:

  • Power System Design:
  • Technical advice during pre-sale engineering consulting
  • Develop front-end onelines, equipment plans, and loading / short circuit estimated calculations for equipment specifications.
  • Switchgear, MCC, etc. distribution equipment specification development.
  • Vendor interface including quote evaluation, equipment bidding process, bonus/malice for clients.
  • IFA & IFC drawing process management with client/vendor including onelines, switchgear schematics, MCC schematics, cable schedules, bus duct, panel schedules, grounding, etc.
  • Procurement & PO development following client procedures/requirements.
  • Factory acceptance testing scopes and on-site supervision at vendor facilities.
  • Construction scope development for field contractor installation.
  • Site Acceptance testing / Commissioning / Startup supervision as required by the project.
  • Power System Analysis:
    • Perform short circuit calculations to evaluate series ratings, current limiting effects, and to evaluate best value options for each reported inadequacy.
    • Perform coordination time-current curve (TCC) and device setting analysis.
    • Perform arc flash analysis and recommend changes for dangerous locations.
    • Review the system for code compliance and document known installation years.
    • Document equipment and locations to evaluate conductor length accuracy.
    • Summarize and prioritize the risk for each deficiency.
    • Perform equipment selection studies to verify equipment types prior to their purchase.
    • NEC code experience in defining construction designs and safety systems.
    • Harmonic analysis, including filter bank design and specification.
    • Analyze and design arc flash mitigation strategies/systems.
  • Power Monitoring / Integration:
    • Using/programming some or most of the following software packages – ION Enterprise, Struxureware, Wonderware, ETAP E-SCADA / Real-Time, SEL-5035, Enervista, PanelView, DranView.
    • Using/programming some or most following hardware – SEL RTAC, GE G500, PML/ION, SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider, Dranetz PQ meters.
    • Programming of SEL, GE, PML, Schneider, etc. IEDs for integration.
    • Programming of HMIs.
    • Programming of Servers and Integration Software.
    • Programming of Managed Ethernet Switches.
    • Network Troubleshooting.
    • Network FAT, SAT, Startup, Commissioning.
    • Modbus, IEC61850, DNP, SEL protocols.
  • Protection Schemes / Power Controls:
    • Design protection and control systems for utility, industrial, generation, and large commercial facilities.
    • Design of automatic transfer schemes, load shed systems, advanced automatic switching schemes.
    • Remote control and communication assisted schemes using IEC61850, Modbus, etc.
    • Electro-mechanical and Microprocessor based protection.
    • Programming of SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Schneider, Siemens etc. protective relays.
    • Scheme FAT, SAT, Startup, Commissioning.
Responsibilities
  • Proposal and quotation development.
  • Technical advice during pre-sale engineering consulting.
  • Education of/Consultation with internal/external partners
  • Manage client expectations, facilitate proposal delivery, and lead project execution.
  • Work within a project team to create all design documents and drawings for a project, including creating wiring diagrams from schematics, generating bills of materials, and applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings with the supervision of the principal engineer.
  • Technical advice during pre-sale engineering consulting.
  • Education of/Consultation with internal/external partners.
  • Develop solutions for complex power system engineering problems.
  • 10% Travel required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must be able to meet site access requirements of client facilities.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. and have a stable work history. Sponsorship is not available.
Desired Qualities
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • PE in Louisiana
  • NEC code experience in defining construction designs.
