Job description

ECI is seeking graduate electrical engineers to join our Planning and Studies team.  If you are seeking a great opportunity and have an interest in power systems or working in renewable energy projects, we want to hear from you. ECI has Planning groups located in Madison, WI and Chesapeake, VA. A new graduate would be expected to work onsite in either of these locations.

The position responsibilities include performing a variety of electrical studies using tools such as PSS/e, PSLF, ASPEN Oneliner, Cape, PSCAD, and EMTP-RV – experience in these tools is not required. As a new hire, you will be paired with an experienced ECI engineer to assist with training/mentoring on our techniques and QA/QC processes to ensure your success!

Many but not all the studies will be related to large scale (50 -2000+ MW) renewable energy projects (wind, solar, energy storage).  Our team helps customers from project conceptual development, support during design, equipment selection and assistance with plant operating issues after COD.  We assist with apparatus ratings and specifications development for EHV/HV/MV/LV transformers, circuit breakers, switches, cables, switchgear, inverters, wind turbines, DC and AC aux power systems, etc.

We also provide services to large and small utility and industrial clients. These studies can involve typical transmission level load additions, long range plans, generation interconnections, black start analysis, voltage unbalance/line transposition analysis, breaker TRV assessments, insulation coordination studies, etc. We have a separate distribution planning group as well.

Minimum Requirements: BSEE, MSEE. Degree must be from a university that meets the requirements to sit for the Professional Engineering exam. Must be capable of preparing high quality written engineering reports and have excellent communication and organizational skills. The successful applicant may be subject to client-mandated drug and background checking. Occasional travel/driving is required; therefore, the successful applicant will be subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future.

Salary commensurate with experience and education. Benefits include:

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Flexible spending account
  • Health savings account
  • Life insurance
  • Disability insurance
  • 401(k), profit sharing and employee stock ownership plan
  • Paid vacation, personal days and holidays
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Continued professional education reimbursement

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) employs over 850 engineers, designers, project managers, surveyors, ROW agents, environmental planners, construction professionals and support staff in 37 offices across the U.S. The firm has more than 40 years of experience in the planning, engineering, and construction of a wide range of power delivery projects including substations, transmission lines, distribution systems, communication systems and industrial facilities.
