Position Description:

General Summary: Generally expected to work as a valued member of the XL Specialized Trailers team. Maintains production by assembling parts and subassemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
  • Positions parts and components by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Installs components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed components.
  • Resolves assemble problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Wears proper personal protective equipment.
  • Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing relating results as needed.

Ancillary Duties:

  • Assist with the continuous process improvement of XL Specialized Trailers by leading and participating in projects such as lean, 5-S and Kaizen..
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall operations of the XL Specialized Trailers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Supervision Received:

Works under direct supervision. The employee is responsible for carrying out the assignment, keeping their supervisor informed of progress and potential problems or future implications.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at a functional level.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Walking, sitting, standing, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50lbs and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime, including Saturday work.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed indoors in production facility.
