Role: Business System Analyst
Location: West Des Moines, Iowa

  • The Business System Analyst (Actuarial IT) is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements for Agile scrum teams and project initiatives.
  • This role involves collaborating across business units to understand requirements for the Actuarial Data Center, documenting business needs, gathering necessary data, and retiring outdated processes.
  • This may require analysis and coding in SAS, SQL, R, and/or Python.
  • Additionally, the BSA will contribute to modernization efforts using AWS, assist in user acceptance testing, identify and remediate bugs, and implement improvements. The role also includes supporting production processes and maintaining communication with Actuarial business units.
  • Accountabilities:
  • Facilitates business requirement sessions with stakeholders across the organization, developing comprehensive documentation that aligns with business needs
  • Translates business requirements into functional specifications, working in tandem with IT resources to develop technical solutions
  • Collaborates with delivery team resources within the agile framework to create and refine user stories (JIRA), coordinating user acceptance testing to ensure quality standards are met
  • Provides support for incident/defect management for BAU and/or project deliveries
  • Serves as backup for other BSAs during projects, refinement sessions, and Production Support activities
  • Implements best practices to ensure there is consistency in standards and execution
  • Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst in the Actuarial
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools.
  • High-quality, complete, correct, and unambiguous business and functional requirement documents
  • Defect-free, intuitive, streamlined, and effective resulting processes, business practices, and systems that meet business needs.
  • On-time delivery of requirements within fundamental project metrics (scope, time schedule, and costs)
  • Positive feedback from project manager, sponsor, and team regarding role effectiveness and deliverables
