Job Description
Position Summary:
The assistant coach will coordinate with the guidance of the head coach all aspects of Vanderbilt Athletics' Spirit Program including cheer, dance, and mascot. These responsibilities include but are not limited to, leading and organizing all practices, student-athlete development and academic progress of spirit squad members, and budget management. This person will assist in the selection process for all areas of spirit, directing and managing gameday duties/functions (both home and away football, and other home events), as well as community and campus appearances. This position will be expected to assist in recruiting functions, promote school spirit and involvement, while also publicly adhering to the brand of Vanderbilt University Athletics in all facets.
About the Work Unit:
Vanderbilt University's Athletics Department prepares student-athletes to become leaders and champions in life by placing the highest values on integrity, character, sportsmanship and victory. Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeastern Conference and is the conference's only private school.
Key Functions and Expected Performance:
1. Assist with the structure and organization of all practices
2. Help monitor student-athlete development and academic progress of spirit squad members
3. Assist in the organization of spirit squad at all home and away football games, inclusive of football bowl travel, and other home events where the spirit squads are present
4. Assist in the coordination and execution of the selection process for all areas of spirit
5. Assist in managing all gameday duties/functions of the program at football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and other sports as agreed upon
6. Assist in the recruiting and engaging of any potential spirit squad members, promoting school spirit and involvement, and publicly adhering to Vanderbilt's brand
7. Assist in the coordination and execution of all appearance and revenue opportunities for the Spirit and mascot programs
The Assistant Coach will work very closely with the Head Coach with the provide great team culture, oversee all spirit squad members in addition to other coaches around the program.
This full-time position will report to the Spirit Head Coach.
