Job description

Interested in joining a growing company where you will work with talented colleagues, enhance a supportive and energetic culture, and be part of the climate solution? At Energy Solutions, we focus on the big impacts. And we believe that market-based programs can be a powerful force to deliver large-scale energy, carbon, and water-use savings. Since 1995, we've harnessed that power to offer proven, performance-based solutions for our utility, government, and institutional customers.
Energy Solutions is seeking a full-time Solar Programs Associate - Consumer Protection, to join our Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Team. As an Associate, Consumer Protection, you'll work closely with consumers, vendors, and internal teams to support case progression, maintain accurate records, apply established procedures, and help drive timely resolutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates effectively, and has a strong eye for detail.
Are you a detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys helping people and keeping processes running smoothly? Join our Consumer Protection team and play a key role in supporting complaint resolution, case management, and customer support activities that help ensure a positive experience for program participants. If you're eager to make an impact, build your skills, and contribute to a mission-driven team, we'd love to hear from you.
The person filling this role will be required to work in a hybrid work environment reporting to our office in Chicago, IL and expected to be in the office a minimum of once a week.
Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Process and document consumer complaints by following established workflows and recording required case details.
  • Review and categorize complaints using defined standards to support tracking and prioritization.
  • Maintain and update case records in program systems and CRMs, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify and troubleshoot missing information and coordinate follow-up requests using established templates.
  • Communicate and resolve case-related inquiries with consumers and vendors regarding status, documentation needs, and next steps using approved guidance.
  • Coordinate follow-up actions with stakeholders to support timely case progression.
  • Apply program requirements and SOPs to resolve routine issues.
  • Escalate non-routine or sensitive issues to supervisors or senior team members.
  • Track and update case progress and workflow status in reporting systems.
  • Validate data entries and correct routine discrepancies to maintain data quality.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree or a high school degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, including tracking tasks and managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and apply SOPs to routine workflows.
  • Ability to identify issues and escalate appropriately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM or tracking systems.
  • A one-page cover letter will be required explaining your interest in the company and the role (the use of AI is prohibited in the drafting).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fluency in Spanish, including verbal and written communication, to assist native Spanish complainants.

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000/annually with a target compensation of $60,000 - $66,500/annually based on experience and qualifications.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
AI Use
At Energy Solutions we believe in the importance of authentic interactions and equitable opportunities. We base our candidate selection on one's own skills, knowledge, and experience. To ensure the integrity and fairness of our interview process, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools (including Generative AI) or other means to generate or assist with responses during interviews is strictly prohibited. This practice supports our commitment to create a transparent and equitable space where skills, knowledge and experience can truly shine.
