About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven Solar Maintenance Technician Instructor to
lead our newly launched 15-week Solar Maintenance Technician Program, developed in
collaboration with Leeward Renewable Energy and supported by Sungrow.
This is a high-profile, flagship program โ€” the first of its kind in the U.S. with direct industry
backing โ€” training the next generation of utility-scale solar technicians, including
transitioning veterans and adult learners. With real-world labs and cutting-edge equipment,
weโ€™re not just teaching solar โ€” weโ€™re redefining how itโ€™s taught.
Youโ€™ll play a pivotal role in ensuring students graduate ready to work on todayโ€™s most
advanced solar systems.
What Youโ€™ll Teach; Lead
This role involves hands-on instruction, mentorship, and training delivery aligned with
utility-scale solar maintenance standards, including:
ย โ€ข Sungrow 3600 UUD Inverters
ย โ€ข Sungrow BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
ย โ€ข Combiner box maintenance and troubleshooting
ย โ€ข Load break switch inspection and operation
ย โ€ข SCADA systems basics and safety
ย โ€ข Preventative and corrective maintenance workflows
ย โ€ข Lockout/tagout procedures and job site safety
ย โ€ข Site-level communication and field reporting
ย โ€ข Work readiness site professionalism (PPE, documentation, site protocols)
Ideal Background
โ€ข 3+ years of hands-on experience in utility-scale solar O&M (Solar Maintenance, Field
Service, or Commissioning)
ย โ€ข Experience with Sungrow equipment (inverters, BESS) strongly preferred
ย โ€ข Proficiency with load break switches, combiner boxes, and basic SCADA interfaces
ย โ€ข Previous training, mentorship, or instructional experience is highly desirable
ย โ€ข Strong safety mindset and understanding of OSHA/NEC/lockout-tagout procedures
ย โ€ข Familiarity with veteran learners or diverse adult education environments a plus
ย โ€ข Comfortable delivering hands-on instruction in a lab-based environment
Responsibilities
ย โ€ข Deliver engaging, practical instruction for solar maintenance technician students in a
15-week cohort format
ย โ€ข Lead classroom training, hands-on labs, simulations, and assessments
ย โ€ข Maintain equipment and coordinate real-world demonstrations
ย โ€ข Develop and refine lesson plans (with support from Sungrow Leeward)
ย โ€ข Assess student progress and provide actionable feedback
ย โ€ข Support students with job readiness and transition to employment
ย โ€ข Stay current with industry standards, trends, and safety codes
