About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven Solar Maintenance Technician Instructor to
lead our newly launched 15-week Solar Maintenance Technician Program, developed in
collaboration with Leeward Renewable Energy and supported by Sungrow.
This is a high-profile, flagship program โ the first of its kind in the U.S. with direct industry
backing โ training the next generation of utility-scale solar technicians, including
transitioning veterans and adult learners. With real-world labs and cutting-edge equipment,
weโre not just teaching solar โ weโre redefining how itโs taught.
Youโll play a pivotal role in ensuring students graduate ready to work on todayโs most
advanced solar systems.
What Youโll Teach; Lead
This role involves hands-on instruction, mentorship, and training delivery aligned with
utility-scale solar maintenance standards, including:
ย โข Sungrow 3600 UUD Inverters
ย โข Sungrow BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
ย โข Combiner box maintenance and troubleshooting
ย โข Load break switch inspection and operation
ย โข SCADA systems basics and safety
ย โข Preventative and corrective maintenance workflows
ย โข Lockout/tagout procedures and job site safety
ย โข Site-level communication and field reporting
ย โข Work readiness site professionalism (PPE, documentation, site protocols)
Ideal Background
โข 3+ years of hands-on experience in utility-scale solar O&M (Solar Maintenance, Field
Service, or Commissioning)
ย โข Experience with Sungrow equipment (inverters, BESS) strongly preferred
ย โข Proficiency with load break switches, combiner boxes, and basic SCADA interfaces
ย โข Previous training, mentorship, or instructional experience is highly desirable
ย โข Strong safety mindset and understanding of OSHA/NEC/lockout-tagout procedures
ย โข Familiarity with veteran learners or diverse adult education environments a plus
ย โข Comfortable delivering hands-on instruction in a lab-based environment
Responsibilities
ย โข Deliver engaging, practical instruction for solar maintenance technician students in a
15-week cohort format
ย โข Lead classroom training, hands-on labs, simulations, and assessments
ย โข Maintain equipment and coordinate real-world demonstrations
ย โข Develop and refine lesson plans (with support from Sungrow Leeward)
ย โข Assess student progress and provide actionable feedback
ย โข Support students with job readiness and transition to employment
ย โข Stay current with industry standards, trends, and safety codes
