Is it hard to become a ski patroller?

Becoming a full-time ski patroller requires completing certifications such as CPR, first aid, and outdoor rescue training, along with gaining experience in skiing or snowboarding. The process can be competitive and physically demanding, often involving ongoing training and seasonal work before securing a full-time position.

How much money do ski patrollers make?

Ski patrollers typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, with annual salaries ranging from approximately $30,000 to $50,000 depending on experience, location, and certification level. Many ski patrollers work full-time during the ski season and may receive additional benefits such as lodging or discounts on lift tickets.

Do ski patrollers work year round?

Full-time ski patrollers typically work during the ski season, which varies by location but often lasts from late fall to early spring. Some ski resorts offer year-round employment for patrollers involved in mountain safety, training, or other roles, but the core ski patrol duties are seasonal. Off-season work may include training, maintenance, or other resort-related tasks.

How to get a job as a ski patroller?

To become a ski patroller, candidates typically need to complete a certified first aid or emergency medical technician (EMT) training, obtain relevant certifications such as CPR and OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care), and gain experience in skiing or snowboarding. Many ski resorts prefer applicants who are physically fit, have good communication skills, and are familiar with mountain safety protocols.
