Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is seeking an experienced Civil CAD Designer to join our Digital Delivery and Civil Production team. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes roadway, drainage, utilities, structural, geotechnical, rail, and is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects throughout the country.

Location

This position will be based out of Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers Lone Tree, CO (South Denver) office.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be part of a design team responsible for delivering engineering solutions, which include the preparation of detailed plans and technical reports, that support heavy civil construction projects for Kiewit Construction Companies. This includes roadway, drainage, and utility design. Key responsibilities include:

  • Primarily in-office work
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop preliminary and final design plans for roadway, drainage, and utility projects
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate concepts and recommend improvements
  • Utilize civil engineering design software, including MicroStation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, OpenRoads Designer, and Civil3D
  • Prepare progress reports and produce documents using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including writing technical memos and presenting technical topics
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritizing assignments to meet deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with DOT and company CAD standards
  • Assist the Production CAD Manager in implementing project standards and preparing presentations
  • Lead small teams of designers on assigned tasks and projects
  • Support the development of software training materials and workflows
  • Participate and assist with the development of team software training materials
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in computer-aided design, 3D modeling, drafting, surveying, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in CAD design and plan production for roadway, drainage, and utility projects
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (2D & 3D)
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of Civil 3D, Bentley InRoads, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and Revit preferred
  • Solid understanding of civil engineering principles and materials
  • Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings and identify discrepancies with attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking and planning skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Leadership experience strongly valued, but not a requirement
  • Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred.

Base Compensation: $73,000/yr - $92,000/yr 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
