Position Summary

The Special Loans SCRA Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration, review, maintenance, and quality control of loans requiring specialized servicing, with a primary focus on SCRA, temporary buydowns, and Adjustable-Rate Mortgage (ARM) loans. This role ensures accurate loan setup and maintenance, regulatory compliance, timely borrower support, and proper coordination across servicing, compliance, cashiering, and other operational teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in mortgage servicing systems, understanding loan maintenance workflows, and handling specialized loan scenarios with a high degree of accuracy and compliance awareness.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process SCRA requests, including eligibility review, benefit application, maintenance, and ongoing monitoring
  • Maintain and update SCRA loan terms, including interest rate reductions, protection periods, payment adjustments, and related account maintenance
  • Review and maintain temporary buydown loans, including setup validation, subsidy monitoring, expiration tracking, and issue resolution
  • Review and support ARM loans, including adjustment review, loan setup validation, payment change coordination, and error identification
  • Perform maintenance within servicing systems to ensure specialized loans are set up and functioning correctly
  • Monitor reports, dashboards, and exception tracking related to SCRA, buydowns, and ARM loans
  • Research and resolve discrepancies, servicing errors, and maintenance issues impacting special loan populations
  • Coordinate with Compliance, Cashiering, Loan Servicing, Data/Reporting, and leadership on corrections and escalations
  • Maintain accurate documentation, notes, and imaging to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance
  • Assist with quality control reviews, internal audits, and procedure adherence
  • Support borrower and internal inquiry resolution related to special loan servicing
  • Contribute to process improvements, procedure updates, and department reporting

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2+ years of mortgage servicing experience required
  • Direct experience with SCRA loan servicing strongly preferred
  • Experience handling temporary buydowns and/or ARM loans preferred
  • Knowledge of mortgage servicing practices, loan maintenance, payment application concepts, and borrower account research
  • Experience working in mortgage servicing platforms such as Black Knight MSP / ICE MSP or similar systems preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interpret procedures, loan documents, and servicing requirements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage a pipeline of work and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and basic reporting tools preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with regulatory or compliance-sensitive loan servicing
  • Familiarity with SCRA regulations, military order review, and benefit application workflows
  • Experience reviewing ARM terms, including change dates, caps, margins, indexes, and payment adjustments
  • Experience researching buydown subsidy balances, expiration issues, and correction workflows
  • Experience supporting audit requests, QC reviews, or compliance testing
  • Familiarity with imaging systems, loan documentation platforms, and workflow/task management systems
