Description
Summary
Responsible for the proper loading, unloading, and moving of sand and gravel materials in the plant/yard as directed.
Functional Responsibilities
  • Maneuver truck and dump product at designated site in the yard.
  • Be able to identify problems with the dump site related to safety, maneuverability, etc. and work with the manager to resolve them.
  • Learn site aggregate materials to be able to differentiate between the products to keep them in correct and orderly locations.
  • Always use the radio properly keeping the Manager informed of all relevant information and problems.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
  • Thoroughly clean interior and exterior of the equipment as scheduled or instructed.
  • Perform other functions and duties as required or directed.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Help service plants including greasing the bearings on the plant.
  • Change screens on crushers.
  • Shovel dry and/or wet material, sometimes a full shift.
  • Help mechanics when equipment is down including changing oil, hoses, etc.
  • Help plant mechanics change conveyor belts, bearings, rollers, etc.
  • Empty trash cans into dumpsters.

  • Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
  • Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
  • Treat customers, co-workers, and inspectors courteously at all times.
  • Properly follow company, OSHA, and MSHA safety procedures and promote the company safety program.
  • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies and procedures.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment as necessary to include hearing protection, dust masks, safety glasses, boots, harnesses, and other clothing as required.

Requirements
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent required

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Candidate must be drug free.
  • Position requires moderately strenuous physical work.
  • Must be able to:
  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds from floor to 3' - 6' occasionally,
  • Push or pull up to a maximum force of 100 pounds occasionally,
  • Climb in and out of equipment 50+ times per day,
  • Climb up and down ladders occasionally,
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time,
  • Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate and/or service heavy construction machinery and concrete mixers and haul trucks,
  • Travel safely while walking and while operating heavy machinery and/or trucks over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement,
  • See, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions and to moving heavy construction machinery,
  • Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves,
  • Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery,
  • Continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions,
  • Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally,
  • Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.
