Full Time Rn Periop 101 Program information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time RN in a Periop 101 Program, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time RN in a Periop 101 Program, you need a current RN license, a solid understanding of surgical nursing principles, and completion or enrollment in the Periop 101 training. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), surgical instruments, and perioperative safety protocols is essential. Strong communication, attention to detail, and adaptability are critical soft skills for collaborating with surgical teams and responding to rapidly changing situations. These competencies are vital for ensuring patient safety, efficient surgical workflows, and positive outcomes in the perioperative environment.

What can new hires expect during the Periop 101 Program as a full-time RN?

As a full-time RN in the Periop 101 Program, you can expect a structured blend of classroom instruction, simulation labs, and hands-on clinical experience in the perioperative (surgical) setting. You’ll work closely with experienced preceptors and interdisciplinary surgical teams to learn the specific protocols, equipment, and patient safety practices unique to the operating room. The program is designed to gradually increase your responsibilities as you gain confidence and competency. Open communication and a willingness to ask questions are encouraged, as the learning curve can be steep but highly rewarding.

What is a Full Time RN Periop 101 Program?

A Full Time RN Periop 101 Program is a comprehensive training program designed for registered nurses (RNs) who are new to perioperative (surgical) nursing. This program provides both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience, covering the fundamentals of operating room procedures, patient safety, and surgical care. Participants typically work full-time while completing the program, allowing them to gain practical skills under the supervision of experienced perioperative nurses. Upon completion, nurses are prepared to work independently in surgical settings. The Periop 101 program is often based on guidelines from the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
