Job description

Salary $70,000 - $1,000 Sign on Bonus!

South Texas Community Living is hiring a Full-Time RN to provide HCS (Home and Community-Based Services) nursing coordination to individuals with intellectual disabilities in group home and natural home settings in the north/northwest area of McAllen area.  This RN position is similar to home health nursing, with some duties and documentation specific to meet the unique requirements of HCS (Home and Community-Based Services) regulations.  Our program provides rewarding job experience for any Registered Nurse interested in promoting the independence of people with disabilities.

FT Shift(s): Monday – Friday     Hours:  9:00AM – 6:00PM (with 1 hour lunch) 

Registered Nurse Duties Include:

  • Comprehensive and Focused Nursing Assessments
  • Training of unlicensed personnel
    • Medication management and administration
    • Documentation of care for 6 hours per day
    • Medical tasks and care 
  • Coordinating medication supplies, medical appointments, medical emergency management, over-the-phone triage, medication management and general nursing quality
  • Narrative RN notes required for all tasks, approximately every 15 minutes
  • Travel less than 15 miles to 2 group homes per day, office errand car available during your shift

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN License Required
  • Valid and current Texas Driver's License
  • Clear Background Check
  • Clear DMV Check
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Proof of Education
  • No confirmation of Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation of an elderly or disabled person
  • No history of Medicaid fraud.
  • Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (group home experience preferred)
  • Strong communication and team-participation skills; friendly, positive attitude.
  • General computer skills (not necessarily expert); be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook, and general internet navigation.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • HCS (Home Community Services) knowledge preferred.
