Position Summary:
The Manager of Sales Engineering HF (Hydroflo) will provide oversight to a team of sales engineering representatives and serve as the technical authority for customer proposals and customer consultation. They are responsible for the development of processes, tools, and technologies that best meet the needs of the target market(s), sales and customers. This position will design, develop, and evaluate the customer facing process for project submittals and provide post-sale technical support on any Hydroflo projects. The Manager, Sales Engineering will provide training and development to the engineering sales representatives to ensure an exceptional customer experience with on-time delivery of all customer quotes.
Measures of success:
  • 100% on-time delivery and accuracy of customer proposals
  • Meet all established product demonstration and troubleshooting targets for prospective customers.
  • Improve close rate on customer proposals
  • Ensure targets on the percent of released backlog are achieved
  • Monitors pricing to ensure strategic margin targets are met

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Establishes streamlined process and procedures for accurate and timely delivery of customer proposals.
  • Trains and develops skill set of the engineering sales representatives to increase their technical knowledge and ensure that they are proficient using the tools needed for success.
  • Manages and improves productivity levels of their team to execute an increasing number of accurate customer proposals.
  • Develops product demonstration process in collaboration with industrial sales managers.
  • Ensures a proper configurator is in place to meet customer needs and provides efficiency and accuracy for the team.
  • Ensures processes and systems meet the needs of procurement and operations to achieve effective order lead-time fulfillment.
  • Evaluates customer relations to determine product and/or process improvements for proposals.
  • Reviews and approves proposals of cost and material changes for optimal performance.
  • Review terms and conditions of sale to ensure accuracy.
  • Negotiates any objections to provided submittal package.
  • Requests revisions to submittal and resubmit to customer for approval.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting with products both pre- and post-sale.
  • Provide field support when necessary to evaluate performance issues at job site.
  • Contacts customer with warranty or non-warranty findings.
  • Provides options of replacement or repair and if any cost applies.
  • Closes out Return Goods Authorization (RGA) case file with final findings and resolutions.
  • Prepares and manages department budget within company guidelines.

People Management
  • Evaluate team members to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; collaborate on development actions and ensure resources necessary to complete actions
  • Cascade relevant and appropriate information about the company and department effectively and in a timely manner
  • Coach and mentor for skill and knowledge development
  • Execute necessary responsibilities of team during absences or alternate engagement
  • Ensure team adheres to company policies, practices, and department standards
  • Assign actions and ensure completion
  • Review work quality and coach team

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in hydraulic applications or working with vertical turbine pumps
  • 5+ years of experience leading or supervising others
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with computer-aided design (CAD) programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) program
  • Knowledge of metallurgy principles
  • Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and pivot as necessary
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to present information in a clear and concise manner
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Strong presentation and marketing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external customers
  • Travel: 10% of time to customer sites, trade shows, trainings, conferences

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Management
  • 10+ years of experience leading or supervising others
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Knowledge of Proof of Concepts
  • Knowledge and experience working with SolidWorks

Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
