Job description

The Specialty Masters Career Instructor and Resume Reviewer supports Master of Science students throughout their career development journey. Reporting to the Director of Graduate Career Services & Strategy, this role provides resume development oversight, course instruction, and administrative coordination to ensure students are prepared for competitive internship and full-time recruitment.
 
Time Commitment
Approximately 10–20 hours per week, varying by semester and student recruitment cycle.
 
Key Responsibilities
1.  Career Course Teaching, Grading, and Administration (0–3 hours/week) (20%)
• Assist in the administration of the required Specialty Masters career course (ES620 / ES621 / ES622 - Design Your Career) in Blackboard 
• Assist with teaching and grading of required Specialty Masters career courses (ES620 / ES621 / ES622 - Design Your Career) 
 
2. Resume Review and Feedback (0–10 hours) (40%)
• Incoming Students: Verify that each incoming student has achieved a VMock score of 80% or higher by the end of the summer career course
• Continuing Students: Confirm that continuing students have added their summer experience (internship or research project) to their resume.
• Provide written feedback on student resumes
 
3. Communications and data collection (0-3 hours/week)(15%)
• Prepare and send student communications regarding career events, career deliverables, and other updates
• Partner with Decision Support to collect outcomes data on job and internship status
• Maintain the Master of Science in Mathematical Finance and Financial Technology (MSMFT) outcomes tracker
 
4.  Meeting Participation (as desired / capacity allows) (25%)
Engage with the broader Graduate Career Services team through relevant meetings, which may include:
• Weekly Specialty Masters coaching team meetings
• Monthly graduate team coaching meetings
• Bi-weekly program meetings
• Periodic meetings with the Director of Graduate Career Services & Strategy

Required Skills
  • B.A./B.S., 8+ years or master's with 5-8 years of industry or recruiting experience.
  • Experience in career coaching, advising, or a related student-facing support role, preferably within a graduate or professional school environment.
  • Familiarity with financial services recruiting cycles, behavioral interview methodologies, and resume best practices for graduate-level candidates.
  • Proficiency with career management platforms; experience with Handshake and VMock preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple student touchpoints across the academic year. 
  • Collaborative and team-oriented; able to coordinate effectively with faculty, program staff, and career services colleagues.
