Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to become an integral part of our Special Education Program at Mind, Body, & Soul Counseling. Located in Athens, Georgia, this full-time remote position allows you to make a significant impact on the lives of students with diverse mental health needs by providing crucial counseling services tailored for educational settings.

About the Organization

Mind, Body, & Soul Counseling is committed to fostering a holistic approach to mental health care. We believe that every child deserves the right support, especially those facing challenges related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and trauma. Our mission is to empower students and families through professional therapeutic services and educational support that nurture both mental well-being and academic success.

Work Environment

This role takes place within a supportive, remote environment, with collaboration and communication tools that connect our team of mental health professionals dedicated to improving student outcomes. You will work closely with educators, specialists, and families to create a comprehensive support network for students in the school community. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts, rotating weekends, and on-call availability as needed.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor, you will:

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for students to identify specific needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored for various conditions, including ASD, trauma, and learning disabilities.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, focusing on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and social skills development.
  • Collaborate with educators, speech and occupational therapists, and other professionals to provide a multidisciplinary approach to care.
  • Respond to mental health crises, providing immediate support during emergencies within the school setting.
  • Educate students and their families on mental health issues and available resources, fostering a greater understanding of mental wellness.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards, using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Participate proactively in team meetings, case reviews, and professional development activities to enhance service delivery.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will primarily focus on students facing various mental health challenges, including those diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, and other emotional and behavioral disorders. This diverse patient population requires a nuanced understanding of each condition and a commitment to providing empathetic and effective treatment interventions that address their unique needs.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A current and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • A Master’s degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
  • Knowledgeable in mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment methodologies, and trauma-informed strategies.
  • Strong abilities in conducting mental health assessments and formulating comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Experience in delivering individual and group therapy, along with effective therapeutic practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology for documentation, including electronic health record systems.
Preferred Experience

While two years of post-licensure experience is required, we particularly value candidates with specialized training or experience in special education mental health services, crisis intervention, and engaging with students from diverse backgrounds.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 60,000 to USD 104,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Healthcare benefits covering medical, dental, and vision needs.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions to help you save for the future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays to support work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance to protect your practice.
  • Continuing education opportunities to further your professional development and career skills.
  • Opportunities for career advancement within the organization’s evolving educational programs.

At Mind, Body, & Soul Counseling, we are invested in your career development. We provide ongoing training workshops, mentorship possibilities, and the chance to lead initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health education in schools. Your contributions will directly influence future programming and help establish best practices within our team.
