This is a medical nutrition therapy role focused on treating obesity and chronic diseases within a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model. You will work alongside nurse practitioners, personal trainers, and behavioral health specialists to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.

We are not a traditional outpatient nutrition role; this is an opportunity to be part of a healthcare transformation model that treats obesity as a disease and addresses its root causes.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) in Maryland who is passionate about helping patients achieve sustainable health outcomes through nutrition, behavior change, and clinical collaboration.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a team-based healthcare environment and wants to make a measurable impact on patients managing weight-related and chronic conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients with obesity and chronic conditions
  • Develop and implement personalized nutrition care plans
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and ongoing patient counseling
  • Engage patients in behavior change and long-term lifestyle modification
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team (NPs, fitness trainers, behavioral health)
  • Monitor and document patient progress and outcomes
  • Educate patients on evidence-based nutrition strategies
  • Support patient adherence through motivational interviewing and coaching techniques

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Work within a leading healthcare system: MedStar Health
  • Be part of an innovative, integrated care model with CoreLife
  • Focus on clinical outcomes, not volume-based counseling
  • 4-day work week supporting work-life balance
  • Treat obesity as a disease, not just a lifestyle issue
  • Collaborate daily with a full care team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) – active OR registration eligible through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Current Maryland Dietitian License (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong communication and patient engagement skills
  • Passion for working with patients managing obesity and chronic disease

Benefits (Through MedStar Health)

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Paid Malpractice Insurance
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Retirement Plan (Pre-tax and Roth options with employer match)
  • Career Growth within a leading healthcare system
  • Recognized employer: “Healthiest Maryland Businesses.”
