Railroad Track Maintenance & Heavy Equipment Operator
Location: Miami / Medley, FL
Pay Range: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time

Road & Rail Services is a national leader in specialized logistics and rail support services. Our Track Maintenance division is built on skill, precision, and accountability. We take pride in maintaining safe, efficient rail infrastructure-and in developing experienced equipment operators into highly skilled rail professionals.

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support railroad track maintenance operations. This role is ideal for operators with strong equipment experience in construction, civil, or industrial environments who are interested in applying their skills in the rail industry. Prior railroad experience is preferred, but not required-we will train the right candidate.

You will play a critical role in maintaining track integrity, supporting safe rail operations, and ensuring all work meets regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, and rail-specific machinery
  • Assist with track surfacing, tie replacement, rail repair, and general maintenance
  • Follow all FRA regulations and company safety policies
  • Identify track defects, equipment issues, and safety concerns
  • Work closely with crew members to complete projects efficiently and safely

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of heavy equipment operation (construction, civil, or industrial environments)
  • Strong safety mindset and job-site awareness
  • Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment

Preferred:

  • Railroad track maintenance (MOW) experience
  • Experience with tampers, regulators, or rail-adapted equipment
  • Familiarity with FRA-regulated environments

Road & Rail Services offers competitive pay based on experience and skill, stable full-time employment with career advancement opportunities, hands-on training in railroad operations, high-quality equipment, and a professional work environment. Employees also receive a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k).

This role is a great fit for operators who take pride in precision work, have a consistent work history, value safety, and are looking for long-term, stable career growth in a specialized industry.

If you have strong heavy equipment experience and are looking to build a long-term career in the railroad industry, we encourage you to apply.

Apply today to join a team that values safety, skill, and long-term career growth.
