Job description

Lead Rail Fabricator – Drive Precision and Quality for New England’s Premier Steel Manufacturer

Job Overview:

  • Company: Superior Rail & Iron Works Inc.

  • Salary/Pay Rate: $75,000-$85,000 per year (Year-End Bonus available).

  • Location: Onsite (New England Market).

  • Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, Overtime.

  • Project Scope: Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Government/Federal.

  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.

The Opportunity: You will serve as the primary leader in the rail fabrication department, overseeing the layout and creation of custom stair and railing systems. This role empowers you to mentor a dedicated crew while upholding the reputation of a prestigious third-generation family business. You will bridge the gap between complex blueprints and high-quality finished products in a state-of-the-art shop environment.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Supervise and direct a dedicated fabrication crew to ensure high-quality project delivery.

  • Coordinate daily workflow and assign tasks to maintain strict production schedules.

  • Execute precise layouts of rails and posts based on complex architectural plans.

  • Interpret detailed fabrication drawings to ensure all components meet exact specifications.

  • Mentor junior team members to foster professional growth and consistent craftsmanship.

  • Inspect completed metalwork to validate structural integrity and design accuracy.

  • Resolve technical fabrication challenges in real-time to maintain shop productivity.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in metal fabrication for stair and rail systems.

  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience within a high-volume fabrication shop.

  • Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and technical specifications.

  • Expertise in MIG and TIG welding, metal assembly, and finishing techniques.

  • Strong organizational skills necessary for managing team dynamics and shop logistics.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in training and developing team members in a shop environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of miscellaneous metal projects beyond standard railing.

  • A portfolio reflecting high-level craftsmanship and attention to detail in previous roles.
