Responsibilities

This role is responsible for supporting hospital charge capture and revenue improvement initiatives in all Surgery locations. This person collaborates with clinical, charge entry, coding, billing and information system staff to ensure accuracy in charging. Uses knowledge of different surgical procedures, able to ensure all supply, time and device charging is correct prior to charge processing and patient/insurance billing. Skills required include medical terminology, strong computer skills, strong customer service and problem solving.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Coding or Healthcare related field OR
  • Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing/Coding, or other health related degree and two (2) year of related experience OR
  • High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years previous medical related medical/coding experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, exercise independent judgement and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in MS Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, technical, analytical and decision making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals in all levels of responsibility.

PREFERRED

  • Previous experience in hospital/medical office environment.
  • Coding degree or Certificate such as RHIA, RHIT or CPC
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of a computerized electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Ability to work independently.
