Job description

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner/Physician assistant in the CVT- Critical Care. The individual in the role will promote excellence in patient care by advancing the quality, efficient, and cost-effective care.
  • Daily hospital rounds with physician.
  • Dictates patient's admission history and physical.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays and other diagnostic test as deemed necessary by the patient's condition in collaboration with the physician.
  • Prescribes appropriate medications to manage the patient's diagnosis.
  • Prescribes treatment plans including appropriate diet, rest, activities, etc.
  • Performs minor bedside procedures.
  • Communicates information regarding patient status and needs to the attending physician.
  • Initiate appropriate evaluation and emergency management treatment for emergency situations.
  • Prepares and dictates patient's discharge summary and/or the transfer of care notes

EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Assistant program
Licensure: Current licensure in the State of West Virginia Board Certification as Nurse
Practitioner NP-BC/National
Certification in Physician Assistant (PANCE)PA-C
Certification: ACLS
Prescriptive Privileges: Comply with West Virginia Code related to attaining and maintaining limited prescriptive privileges.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years experience preferred as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Two (2) years as a Critical Care RN or Nurse Practitioner preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, staff and other health care providers. Ability to use equipment needed for a thorough physical examination. Behaviors which reflect understanding, emotional stability, patience, tact and consideration for individual differences.
