Position Summary:
The Freeze Dry Operator is responsible for operating process and utility equipment to produce quality freeze-dried products.
Responsibilities:
  • Fill slurry product in trays and freezing (standard and/or cryo-freezing).
  • Load frozen slurry product into the storage freezers.
  • Assist in loading the freeze dryers.
  • Weighing out ingredients.
  • Cleaning product trays, racks, additional cans and other general area cleaning.
  • Assist with receiving and loading of goods.
  • Prepare materials for shipping.
  • Gain proficiency in operating scales and tray washer.
  • Collaboration, ability to multi-task, adaptable, listening.
  • Follows SOPs (standard operating procedures) and work instructions for all tasks to ensure safe, quality products are manufactured.
  • Operate process and utility equipmentย  e.g. forklift, in a hygienic and safe manner in accordance with all processing procedures, cGMP, HAACP, FSMA and OSHA instructions and guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining all process areas within the manufacturing environment to comply with current regulatory guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate written records or logs of all production processes, cleaning or maintenance completed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Associates or bachelorโ€™s degree, or equivalent college experience preferred but High School degree acceptable with prior experience in fermentation, spray drying, bacterial and/or chemical products.ย ย 
  • 1+ years of experience in fermentation, spray drying or chemical product operations.ย ย 
  • High level of independence and initiative is required.ย ย 
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Majority of work is conducted in a fermentation production facility and includes frequent exposure to wet, humid, dusty, and noisy conditions.
  • Work includes lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing, walking, as well as occasional scooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • May be exposed to airborne particles and chemicals used in fermentation production facilities.
Safety Requirements:
  • Mandated use of company-issued uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Adherence to all company safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
