Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a full time Prosthetist and Orthotist (ABC) to join our team to cover leave.  The Certified Orthotist or Prosthetist assesses, measures, casts, modifies, begins fabrication and fits patients for orthotics / prosthetic devices.  Requires ability to communicate with multi challenged patients, family members, care givers and other patient care staff.

Responsibilities
  • The Prosthetist/Orthotist is responsible for the assessment, measurement, casting, modification, fabrication and fitting of prosthetic and orthotic devices under appropriate prescription criteria. 
  • Responsible for the development of patient treatment plans including the design of the appropriate device and component selection in accordance to the physician prescription; appropriate, timely and compliant patient documentation utilizing EMR system; and the establishment of short and long term patient goals for documented outcomes. 
  • The Prosthetist/Orthotist is responsible to direct the technical staff in fabrication of specific orthotic and prosthetic devices following an organized and orderly work flow with reasonable delivery dates of the orthosis/prosthesis to patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge & skills necessary to correctly repair or make adjustments to orthotic/prosthetic devices according to written work orders.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree in O&P.
  • NCOPE Accredited residency in Orthotics and Prosthetics required.

Experience

  • 1 year experience as certified O&P with emphasis in Pediatrics preferred

Certification and Licensure

  • Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC) or board eligible Orthotist/Prosthetist required
