Summary:

As the International Freight Program Manager, you will own FreightWise’s international import program from regulatory compliance and rate procurement through booking operations, shipment visibility, and client relationship management.

This role serves as the single point of accountability for overall program performance and the day-to-day client experience. The International Freight Program Manager will work closely with carriers, NVOCCs, overseas agents and partners, clients, and internal teams to ensure international shipments are managed efficiently, compliantly, and with a high level of service.

What you will do:

  • Own FMC/NVOCC compliance oversight, including verifying partner licensing and ensuring program requirements are met
  • Lead ocean freight rate procurement and carrier/NVOCC contract negotiations
  • Manage international freight booking processes and partner SOPs
  • Oversee shipment visibility and exception handling throughout the international import process
  • Manage relationships with overseas agents and international partners
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and ensure a strong day-to-day customer experience
  • Coordinate with carriers, NVOCCs, partners, and internal teams to support successful shipment execution
  • Monitor international freight program performance and identify opportunities for process and service improvements
  • Support effective use of visibility and TMS platforms, including carrier EDI and API data feeds
  • Maintain strong relationships with industry partners while ensuring FreightWise clients receive consistent, reliable service

What you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience in ocean freight forwarding or NVOCC operations
  • Experience with ocean freight rate procurement and/or carrier contract negotiations
  • Experience working with Asia–U.S. trade lanes strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of FMC/OTI regulations, NVOCC licensing, and tariff requirements
  • Experience managing overseas agent or partner networks
  • Familiarity with visibility and TMS platforms
  • Understanding of carrier EDI and API data feeds
  • Customer-facing account management experience
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and serve as the point of accountability for a complex international freight program

Nice to have:

  • Existing carrier or NVOCC relationships
  • NCBFAA or similar industry credentials
  • Language skills relevant to target origins

Nice-to-have qualifications are beneficial but not required where FreightWise's existing partner network is strong.
