Job Title: Power BI, SQL Developer
Work Location: Hybrid, Onsite - Richmond, VA 23219
Duration: 12+ months
Visa: Candidate must be eligible to work on W2 or C2C

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL Server SQL development, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience in writing complex DAX queries.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server data modelling and schema design.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes business and technical stakeholders. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have skills, not mandatory:
  • Experience in Pensions Benefit Management programs
  • Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView).
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent.
  • Other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis and database management.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred and 5+ years' experience with technology or data organizations required.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to VRS data security policies.
  • Meet all deliverables withing the agreed upon timeframe.
  • Provide regular status updates and attend various meetings as required.
  • Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
  • Create interactive visualizations, reports, dashboards that assist with effective monitoring of Critical Data Elements.
  • Advise on best practices in data visualization and report optimization.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate into actionable reports.
  • Develop, optimize and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Develop DAX queries to enhance the performance and functionality of reports.
  • Develop reports to support KPIs and other performance indicators.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools.
  • Review existing SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Index(s) to determine performance enhancements for long running queries.
  • Provide alternative options to existing data manipulation techniques. Examples would be converting Excel manipulation activities into solutions that reduce process/cycle time of data preparation.
  • Special projects at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer.
