Job Summary
The Senior Director will represent Mon Health System in a range of venues and activities. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Philanthropy, the Senior Director will assist in leading a comprehensive, integrated development program in support of the Mon Health mission. This position will have a strong working partnership with the Director and leadership of the Mon Health System and other members of the Hospital leadership team. As the senior development officer, this position exerts strategic leadership related to the engagement of high-potential prospects and volunteers in support of the System's priority funding objectives.
Responsibilities
Philanthropic Support and Expansion
Identifies, selects, and manages a portfolio of 50 high-potential prospects in order to expand the System's philanthropic support from a regional, local and selected corporate/foundation prospect pool. Emphasis on face-to-face contact with prospects and donors, including travel as needed. Works closely with the Executive Director of Philanthropy on prospect strategy, needs coordination, necessary support functions, work implementation, and progress reporting.
Program Management and Outreach Activities
Actively participates in the ongoing creation of the Mon Health System Grateful Patient Program. Solicits private philanthropic support for the Mon Health System including leadership, major, annual and planned giving. Utilizes and coordinates several outreach activities to identify and engage prospective donors including personal contact, electronic and social media, direct mail campaigns and special events. Meets quantifiable (personal and team) work objectives established for each fiscal year.
Relationship and Leadership Cultivation
Engages Boards and Hospital leadership as appropriate in raising private support. Develops and maintains collegial relationships with Hospital physicians and staff. Identifies, enlists, motivates, guides and encourages volunteers to further drive support for the program, especially in the areas of leadership and major gift cultivation and solicitation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Light Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. with a maximum lifting of 25 lbs.
7 to 10 years of direct fundraising experience. Must have a proven track record as a successful individual fundraiser, having closed a significant volume of major gifts, ideally at the six and seven-figure level. Experience in leading a staff is preferred. Ability to work with staff from all services and at all levels. Ability to analyze issues and identify possible solutions. Ability to plan and prioritize own workload. Excellent organization and time management. Excellent interpersonal skills and sound experience of client contact. Ability to be flexible and prepared to exercise initiative. Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software.
