How much do full time pcb test engineer jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 1, 2026, the average hourly pay for full time pcb test engineer in the United States is $46.58, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $34.86 and $59.13 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the 7 types of PCB testing methods?

A Full Time PCB Test Engineer typically uses several testing methods to ensure PCB quality, including visual inspection, in-circuit testing (ICT), flying probe testing, functional testing, boundary scan testing, X-ray inspection, and automated optical inspection (AOI). These methods help detect manufacturing defects, electrical issues, and structural problems during PCB production. Familiarity with these testing techniques and relevant testing equipment is essential for effective quality assurance.

Are test engineers in demand?

Test engineers, including PCB test engineers, are in demand due to the increasing complexity of electronic devices and the need for quality assurance. Skills in automated testing, troubleshooting, and familiarity with testing tools like oscilloscopes and test software enhance job prospects in this field.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

While most engineering roles do not typically reach a $500,000 annual salary, some highly specialized or senior positions such as senior test engineers in high-demand industries, or those with executive responsibilities, can earn this level of compensation. Achieving such a salary often requires extensive experience, advanced skills, certifications, and working in competitive or high-cost regions.

What is the difference between Full Time Pcb Test Engineer vs Pcb Design Engineer?

AspectFull Time Pcb Test EngineerPcb Design Engineer
Primary FocusTesting and validation of printed circuit boards (PCBs)Designing and developing PCB layouts and schematics
Required SkillsTesting procedures, electrical measurements, troubleshootingElectrical engineering, CAD software, circuit design
Work EnvironmentTesting labs, manufacturing facilitiesDesign offices, engineering teams
CertificationsElectronics testing certifications, IPC standardsElectrical engineering degree, CAD certifications

While both roles are integral to PCB manufacturing, the Full Time Pcb Test Engineer primarily focuses on testing and validating PCBs to ensure quality and functionality, whereas the Pcb Design Engineer concentrates on creating the PCB layouts and schematics during the development phase. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job search focus within the electronics industry.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior engineers in specialized fields such as software engineering, petroleum engineering, and aerospace engineering can earn $300,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced skills, and in high-demand industries. Executive-level engineering roles or those with managerial responsibilities may also reach or exceed this salary level.
