Job Summary:

The Indoor/Outdoor Material Handler is responsible for safely transporting, staging, loading, and unloading raw materials and finished metal products throughout the manufacturing facility and outdoor storage yard. This position operates a SkyTrak (Lull) telehandler to efficiently load trucks, move material, and support production while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Job Duties:

  • Operate a SkyTrak (Lull) telehandler to load and unload flatbed and enclosed trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Transport raw materials, fabricated steel, and finished products between production areas, storage yards, and shipping locations.
  • Stage materials according to production schedules and shipping requirements.
  • Verify material quantities, dimensions, and identification against work orders, packing lists, and shipping documents.
  • Secure loads to ensure safe transport and assist with load distribution as needed.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain clean, organized indoor and outdoor storage areas.
  • Assist with inventory control by accurately locating, moving, and tracking materials.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as qualified.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and proper lifting procedures.
  • Work closely with production, fabrication, and shipping personnel to meet daily production and delivery schedules.
  • Assist with general warehouse and yard duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work well with a team.
  • Proficiency in inventory control.
  • Ability to read and understand delivery and shipment orders.
  • Ability to perform tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good attendance and work ethic is required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbal.

Experience and Education Required:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience operating a SkyTrak (Lull) telehandler required.
  • Experience loading flatbed trailers with oversized or heavy steel products.
  • Experience in a metal fabrication, steel manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.
  • Ability to read work orders, shipping documents, and material identification labels.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally more with mechanical assistance.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment for extended periods.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, hard hats, and hearing protection.
  • Employee must be able to read, hear and speak English.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

In our facility, employees may be exposed to excessive noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, smoke, and ambient temperatures. 

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

  • Safety glasses with side shields.
  • Steel toed boots/shoes.
  • Hearing protection.
