Title: Sanitation Worker
Reports to: Sanitation Supervisor/Manager
Location: Benton Harbor, MI
Type: Full-Time Onsite Non-Exempt

JOB PURPOSE
Assure consistent cleaning of plant and food equipment. Performance of cleaning procedures that comply with stated corporate mission and strategic plan, corporate policies, and customer requirements.
Requirements
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Dry cleaning, garbage removal and janitorial activities
  • Wet cleaning to include rinsing, soap application, and scrubbing
  • Work with soaps / other cleaning chemicals.
  • Other duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Onsite role within a food processing/production facility
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including cold environments (35°F or below)
  • Exposure to produce-related fumes (e.g., onions, peppers)
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals (e.g., chlorine, soaps)
  • Use of personal protective equipment, including rain gear
  • Occasional use of sanitation tools and equipment (e.g., foamers, brooms, shovels)
  • Overtime may be required based on operational needs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing
  • Frequent use of hands for grasping and basic tasks (e.g., writing)
  • Ability to lift and carry items ranging from 5 to 50 pounds regularly

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum High School Education / G.E.D. preferred or applicable certification
  • Understanding of Produce Standards, and or basic produce experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word - basic computer skills
  • Working knowledge of English and basic math
  • Ability to interact with management
