Full Time Order Picker information

What is a full time order picker?

Full Time Order Pickers are warehouse employees responsible for locating, retrieving, and preparing products for shipment based on customer orders. They typically work full-time hours, using tools such as handheld scanners or pick lists to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Order pickers play a crucial role in the supply chain, ensuring that customers receive the correct items promptly. The job may involve walking, lifting, and sometimes operating equipment like forklifts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time order picker?

To thrive as a Full Time Order Picker, you need strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and basic math skills, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), handheld scanners, and pallet jacks is typically required. Reliability, teamwork, and time management are crucial soft skills that help ensure efficiency and accuracy. These skills and qualities are important for maintaining accurate inventory, meeting productivity targets, and ensuring smooth warehouse operations.

What are some typical challenges faced by full time order pickers and how can they be managed?

Full Time Order Pickers often encounter challenges such as meeting productivity targets, managing physical fatigue from repetitive lifting or walking, and ensuring accuracy under time pressure. Many warehouses also provide safety training and tools like hand scanners or picking carts to help streamline the process and reduce errors, so taking advantage of these resources is key.
