Job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and highly organized Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our team at a brand-new, modern Ambulatory Surgery Center located in DUMBO. This role is central to ensuring safe, efficient surgical procedures and delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

The OR RN is responsible for coordinating care in the operating room, maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment and serving as a key liaison between surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists and perioperative staff. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, detail-oriented and committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Circulate surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and patient safety protocols
  • Preform pre-procedure verification, surgical time-outs and documentation per policy
  • Coordinate room setup, equipment, implants and supplies for scheduled procedures
  • Monitor the surgical environment and respond to patient and team needs throughout the procedure
  • Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure smooth case flow and efficient room turnover
  • Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation in the medical record
  • Ensure proper handling of specimens, counts and infection prevention practices
  • Comply with all regulatory, accreditation and safety standards in the ambulatory setting

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience
  • Strong knowledge of surgical asepsis, instrumentation and intraoperative nursing practices
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods during surgical procedures
  • Ability to assist with patient positioning and transfers
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies (up to 25 lbs)
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary for operating room duties
