Atlanta, GA

Full-time

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

DDM Group, the parent company of Atlanta Black Star, is a leading digital media company committed to delivering journalism that informs, engages, and drives the conversation.

About the Role
We are seeking a Digital Content Producer who will play a critical role in the day-to-day production of timely, engaging, content for ww.atlantablackstar.com.

This is an entry level position that is ideal for someone with sharp editorial instincts, a strong eye for news, and the hustle to dig into documents, track down sources, and move quickly on breaking stories.

The Digital Content Producer supports the editorial team by conducting research, pulling records, fact-checking, coordinating outreach, and ensuring articles are packaged for maximum impact across digital platforms. You’ll also monitor news and social media for leads, build relationships with sources, and assist with content publishing and optimization.

This role is well-suited for someone eager to grow within a fast-paced digital newsroom — someone meticulous about details, proactive in execution, and passionate about impactful storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day creation of news and feature content across digital websites.

  • Conduct fast, accurate research and background sourcing for breaking, trending, and enterprise stories.

  • Pull and analyze public documents (lawsuits, police reports, filings) to support coverage.

  • Perform fact-checking across a wide range of beats, including politics, entertainment, social justice, and culture.

  • Monitor social media platforms and online communities to surface trends and story leads.

  • Identify and contact stakeholders, sources, and experts; coordinate outreach and interviews.

  • Transcribe and summarize interviews or hearings with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Assist editors with story development, content packaging, and digital optimization (SEO, headlines, tagging).

  • Source visual assets (images, video, embeds) and ensure proper licensing/usage.

  • Maintain editorial calendars, contact databases, and tracking systems.

  • Serve as a reliable utility player during breaking news or high-volume publishing days.
