Join Our Team as an Oil & Gas Attorney at AxiomLocation: Houston, Texas 

We are currently seeking Energy Lawyers specializing in Oil & Gas to work with our global clients in the energy industry. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice and support to our clients in energy sector, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading clients in Oil & Gas, shaping legal strategies and driving business success. This is an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance matters related to oil and gas exploration, production, and transportation, including environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and land use issues.

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of oil and gas agreements, including leases, joint operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, processing agreements and pipeline contracts.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local government laws and regulations. 

Qualifications:
  • Active bar license in the state in which you reside.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on oil and gas law, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department setting.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state laws and regulations governing the oil and gas industry, including the Mineral Leasing Act, Clean Air Act, and Natural Gas Act.

  • Experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) agreements.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience advising clients on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions and projects.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively advise clients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with energy commodities with an emphasis on pipelines and terminals, and experience counselling on energy compliance matters.

  •  Energy-specific data centre experience (acquisition/leases/commercial contracts that have to do with acquiring or leasing into data centres - i.e., power purchase agreements/power supply/utilities).

  • FERC experience (regulatory).             
Compensation:

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.  Employees may be eligible for additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid holidays and PTO; flexible work arrangements; and professional development opportunities and tools.
