JOB FUNCTION:

Under minimal supervision maintains Oracle database management systems. Develops processes that assure data is properly stored and access is properly controlled. Reviews database system needs, options, risks, cost analysis and organization's business goals. Assists in the development of standards and data storage design. Performs maintenance, security administration, backup, and recovery on database management systems. Supports business management with database access, optimum resource configuration, and cost analysis and database performance. Working well with others is essential.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems.

2. Develops processes that assure data is properly stored and access is properly controlled.

3. Supports business management with database access, optimum resource configuration, cost analysis, and database performance.

4. Designs and installs database management system applications. Establishes synergies with existing database applications and processing systems.

5. Monitors progress of projects by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.

6. Performs backup and recovery on database management systems.

7. Performs other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus 4 to 10 years of experience.

Oracle database experience using versions and 11g and or R12.

Experience with Oracle R12 running on RAC

Oracle Apps DBA experience is a must; preferably R12

Experience in performance tuning is preferred

Experience applications using SOA is preferred

Working with the ORACLE EXA platform is a plus

Diagnose and resolve database problems are preferred.

Working in a team environment is essential.

Must be process oriented and adhere to Oracle Standards and industry best practices

Work with other technical teams including network and vendors, as necessary, to support solutions

Performs other duties as directed. Strong customer focus and ability to manage client expectations effectively

Good awareness of ITIL based standards and principals are a plus.
